Pese a tener apreciaciones diferentes en temas de filosofía y bioética, e incluso pertenecer a los dos centros antagónicos sobre todo en sus orígenes (Centro Hastings y Centro Kennedy) de los EEUU, Tom Beauchamp y James Childress “dieron en el blanco” al publicar en 1978 Principios de Ética Biomédica. Ese libro a partir de entonces ha tenido un enorme éxito y muchas re ediciones.
