Combined Method For Accessibility Evaluation In Tele-Rehabilitation Platforms For Low Vision Users

According to the World Health Organization, about 15% of persons who have a disability. Existing web applications are not easily accessible, particularly for people with disabilities. In this research, we present a combined method that consists of applying an automatic inspection with a WAVE tool and manual method. In this study, we employed an examination of the accessibility assessment of ePHoRt, a web platform for hip arthroplasty patient rehabilitation, from the physical therapist’s perspective. In this research, we included the application of 12 accessibility barriers for people with a low vision based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2. The results obtained suggest that digital ramps and WCAG have more accessible and inclusive web platform

The Word Health Organization reveals that over billion persons worldwide living with some disability. On the other hand, videoconferencing applications have become massively popular in oui daily lives, from the domestic to the professional, even for management of public services. Therefore, the use of video conferencing systems by any persob, especially the eldery, witj a disability or little training is essential. Furthermore, not all videoconferencing applications comply, with accesibility standards. In this study. the six most used videoconferencing systems were selected to evaluate compliance with accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2. This stady has limitations, depending on the experience of the evaluators in accessibility. This study con serve as guide for expert and non-expert users in the selection of accessible applications.
Designing An Accessible Website For Palliative Care Services

There is no doubt that population growth and the increase in non-communicable diseases represent a challenge to society, especially for the health system, including palliative care. Maintaining accessible sites is essential for all kinds of people to interact on the web. Ecuador does not have websites on palliative care, and the existing ones in the area of health are not all accessible. To solve this need, we propose the design of a website in the area of palliative care, applying standards based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines applies the WCAG 2.1 standards, more people will be able to access healthcare, including people with disabilities. This research can contribute as a reference for the construction of more inclusive websites in the area of health.

Today, according to the World Health Organization’s disability reports, they indicate that more than 15% of people worldwide have some disability. This research presents an analysis of the evaluation of accessibility made using ePHoRt, a web-based platform that aims to improve the rehabilitation of patients after hip arthroplasty. To achieve this parameter, so that it is accessible to all, we apply Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. This study presents an evaluation of the accessibility of the platform from the physiotherapist’s perspective to achieve an accessible and inclusive site. The results of this research can serve as lessons learned to motivate the developers of the ePHoRt platform towards universal access through the application of WCAG 2.1 throughout the application development cycle.

La Organización Mundial de la Salud indica que más de 1000 millones de personas en todo el mundo viven con alguna forma de discapacidad; alrededor de 200 millones de personas experimentan dificultades considerables en su funcionamiento físico. A futuro, la discapacidad será una preocupación importante, ya que tiende a aumentar debido a que la población está envejeciendo y el riesgo de discapacidad es alto en adultos mayores, debido a que con la edad su visión se reduce . Por otro lado, la COVID-19 ha acelerado la tecnología propiciando el teletrabajo en las áreas de educación, salud y empresarial. Sin embargo, no todas las aplicaciones cumplen con los estándares de accesibilidad. En este estudio, se toman las diez aplicaciones más utilizadas en teleconferencia para evaluar el cumplimiento de los lineamientos de accesibilidad, relacionadas con los principios: perceptible, operable, comprensible y robusto, propuestos en las WCAG 2.1 y WCAG 2.2.
